RCIA General Information

Thank you for your interest in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).  The journey informally begins after you contact us and we sit down for a short visit to determine your needs and how we can help you become a fully initiated Catholic.

The RCIA has historically been the process by which those without any knowledge of the Christian faith learn and grow in their faith and understanding of the Catholic Church.  Participants in the RCIA will be quickly assigned a mentor after our conversation who will be their companion along the initial stages of the journey.  A sponsor can be selected by the participant to be involved in the initiation ritual and to accompany the participant as they continue to walk in faith.

The formal instruction begins in September with weekly sessions covering our faith and beliefs as Catholics. This formal instruction continues after the initiation at Easter and continues through the Easter Season until Pentecost.

Beginning in September participants join with the Catholic faith community at the 8:30am Mass on Sunday.  We are dismissed after the scripture readings to spend a little time delving into the Word of God we just heard and experienced.

After a short break we gather at 9:45 for refreshments and the day's lesson.  We conclude by noon.

Please remember that this is a process and there is no commitment to be made until you are ready. There are several steps in the process and the only commitment initially made is to commit to participating in the process.

There is a team of people to greet you and walk with you on this journey. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Pastoral Center at 817-927-5383.
