Each year the Diocese of Fort Worth takes up a special collection on Good Shepherd Sunday to support the education and formation of our Diocesan seminarians. This annual collection is supported quite generously by the faithful across our Diocese. We are pleased to share that the collection taken up in May of2018 raised $361,861. Specifically, Saint Andrew raised $9,304.38.
The Diocese recognizes that the success of Good Shepherd Sunday is due to the support of parish priests. As you are aware, many of our parishes are served by priests from religious orders, which also have financial needs relating to the education and formation of future priests. The current policy is to share a percentage of the amount raised by parishes pastored by religious order priests with the respective religious order.
The Third Order Regular of St. Francis Province of the Most Sacred Heart will be receiving $4652.19 to be used for the education and formation of seminarians. We are pleased to be able to extend the generosity of Catholics in the Diocese of Fort Worth with so many.
