Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dr. John Solomons began his piano studies with his mother at age 4, and continued his studies in the United States from age 11. His primary teachers include Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Steven de Groote, Hartt School founder Moshe Paranov, and Adam Wodnicki (UNT). Solomons holds degrees from TCU, the Hartt School of Music (University of Hartford), and UNT where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance. John has served as Professor of Piano and Keyboard Area Coordinator at UT Arlington since 1997. In addition to his duties as Saint Andrew organist/pianist since 2008, John has enjoyed great success as solo pianist, concerto soloist, collaborator, and chamber musician in numerous concert series and festivals in the US, South America, and Europe. He has performed in concert with the Emerson String Quartet, Cliburn winner Fabio Bidini, and under the direction of American conductor Gunther Schuller.
