This registration form reserves your spot for the second part of Level 1 training, which offers an immersive week of formation designed to deepen your understanding of CGS and strengthen your role as a catechist. Level 1 Part 2 will guide you in cultivating a prepared environment for children to encounter God through sacred scripture, liturgy, and prayer, allowing them to explore their natural curiosity about God's love and presence.
Throughout this course, you will explore the foundational elements of CGS, focusing on how to foster the spiritual development of children while presenting lessons that invite them into a deeper relationship with God. This course also emphasizes the themes of unity and communion, modeled through the catechist's presence and in the community of faith.Sister Theresa Josephine is a member of the Dominican Sisters of Mary Immaculate Province based in Houston. She holds Catechesis of the Good Shepherd certifications at levels 1, 2, and 3, a bachelor’s degree in theology from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, and a master’s degree in theological studies from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. Since 2019, she has also been certified as a Formation Leader for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, training adults to become catechists at levels 1 and 2.
Born into a Catholic family of seven children in Vietnam, Sister Theresa Josephine came to the United States as a refugee at the age of 15 and joined her religious community. As a member of a preaching and teaching religious order, she is passionate about guiding people to Christ, especially children. She has been a catechist serving various levels of youth and children since 1992, with a particular focus on guiding children to Christ through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd since 2011. In addition to her teaching ministry, Sister Theresa Josephine has served her religious community on the Provincial Council for 12 years and in religious formation for nine years. However, teaching has always been her gift and passion.
In her free time, she enjoys taking nature walks to discover and contemplate God’s beauty, goodness, and truth in nature. She also creates teaching materials from various raw materials, particularly wood, making carpentry her hobby.
