During the recent Severe Winter Weather, our campus sustained a prolonged loss of power (50 hours). This power loss coupled with the extremely cold temperatures caused damage to many areas of our campus.
The chemical supply water line for the Chiller for the 2-Story School Building was ruptured but was able to be bypassed to allow for continued ventilation of the building.
The Friary suffered water damage from the burst lines from the Tankless Water Heaters located in the attic. The damage is contained to the living room, kitchen, and dining room. We will have more pictures coming as the insurance company begins their process the first week of March.
The Parish Hall suffered extensive damage. The main water feed line for the boiler located on the second floor froze and ice was in the lines and caused cracks in the circulating pump, the internal pump of the boiler, heat exchanger for the boiler, and the hot water heater for the domestic water supply. These ruptures allowed a large amount of water to flood the boiler room, Room 218/223, and both of its closets. The water also flooded through the floor down to the first-floor kitchen. A condenser coil inside a first-floor VAV box on the west side of the Parish Hall also ruptured and flooded the faith formation closet and the northwest entryway. The cleanup process has begun. Numerous drying fans were deployed and water was suctioned up. Drywall that was water damaged has been removed and will be replaced in the coming weeks. The numerous repairs for the HVAC system should begin around March 4th and take a week to 10 days to complete.
